The club AGM is on Monday 15th May at Kendrick School, 8pm start. Nominations for committee positions and motions for discussion should be submitted to the club secretary (Chris LT) by Monday 8th May.

The end of season meal is this Saturday, May 6th. There are a couple of spaces still open, so if you want to go, please let the Events Secretary (Steph) know.

Please could everyone also fill in the teams survey so that we can work out our entries for next season. Completed surveys should be returned to the Coaching Coordinator (James).
Chiltern SurveyFri, 21 Apr 2006 18:33
In order to determine the appropriate number of teams to enter in the various leagues for next season, the club is looking to get the views of everyone as to the number of members who are interested in playing in the various leagues, and the level of commitment that each person is able and/or willing to make. From this information, the club will determine the number of teams to run for next season and the leagues in which they will be entered.

I have e-mailed the club mailing list with an electronic copy of the form and I will be attending all training sessions still running with paper copies.

Coaching Coordinator

Men's 1 to play season decider against MaidenheadFri, 03 Mar 2006 11:54
The BVA Men’s 1 Team is to play in the season decider on the 19th March away in Basingstoke against Maidenhead.

They need to beat Maidenhead 2-0 in order to draw level on points with Maidenhead. The league would then be decided by the points difference from each set score over the whole season. With Maidenhead having been penalised earlier in the season for fielding an illegal player, therefore losing the two matches 25-0 25-0, the Men’s 1 team would run out winners of the league claiming the all important automatic promotion spot.

This however does assume that both Men’s 1 and Maidenhead beat Reservoir Ducks (Basingstoke B), who languish at the bottom of the table having won only 3 sets all season, 2-0 in the other matches in the triangular fixture.

The loser of the match between Men’s 1 and Maidenhead will go into a playoff against Spiko’s and what looks likely to be Didcot for the final place in Div 1 next season.

Look out for the match report.

First Indoor SessionsWed, 24 Aug 2005 12:09
The indoor season is nearly upon us (no bad thing looking at the weather outside!) and the first indoor session of the season is a little more than a week away. Please make a note of the following dates in your diary.

First BVA Team Training Session:

Thursday 1st September, Ladies at 7.30, Mens (all teams) at 8.30, Loddon Valley.

Please note that we have booked a 5th badminton court for the middle hour (8.30 to 9.30) so the Men can warm up before their session without requiring the court, with the Ladies session running until 9, and the Ladies have somewhere to warm down out of the way of the Men's session.

First Club Night:

Monday 5th September, Kendrick School, 7pm start.
Last Outdoor SessionThu, 18 Aug 2005 14:57
With indoor club nights starting on September 5th and the Poole tournament on the 29th, this Monday (22nd) is the club's last outdoor session of the summer.

Get down to Cintra Park at 7pm so you don't miss out.

Note that the first team training session of the season is on Thursday 1st September at Loddon Valley. Ladies training from 7.30 to 9. Mens training from 9 to 10.30.
Team Contacts for BVA teams neededMon, 01 Aug 2005 14:34
The deadline for entering teams in to the BVA is approaching fast (August 19th). The club is looking to enter two mens teams and one ladies team for the coming season. As per the output of the survey at the end of last season, no mixed team entry is planned in to the mixed league.

One of the requirements of BVA entry is that we are expected to provide two points of contact for each team on the entry form. We therefore require four volunteers across the two mens teams and two volunteers for the ladies team to act as contacts and work together to fulfil the team secretary function for each of the three teams.

If you wish to volunteer, please e-mail me.

Thanks,

Pete.

Xmas Party CatastropheSat, 15 Jan 2005 10:18
Both Anna and I (mainly Anna) have complained bitterly over the poor service and overcharge both on the food and the tickets.

The free beer and wine went some way to pacify those that were drinking. However we have managed to get a refund out of Jongleurs for the food of £4.50 per head which Anna is going to sort out. Plus they have given us 35 free tickets for any show on a Friday night until the end of March. Having spoken with Anna we have agreed that we will try and block book Friday 11 March 2005, the idea behind this being that it allows people to put it in their diaries and hopefully no one has anything planned for that Friday so far in advance. All members and partners who went on the night are obviously first in line to get these tickets. If you cannot make 11/3/05 you can go on any other Friday until the end of March, but you will need to contact me to get the necessary information to book it yourselves. Additionally if you do not want to take up the offer please let me know so we can offer it to other members who would like to come on this occasion

So let me know if you can definitely go that Friday by 25/1/05 and I will place a booking for that show. I am pretty pleased with this outcome.

Christmas is nearly upon us...Mon, 03 Nov 2003 08:37
It's that time of year again when we need to decide where we want to go for our Christmas bash.

Our usual haunt of Reading Town Hall has gone up in price so we are using this opportunity to find somewhere new (and perhaps a bit different).

So point your mouse in that direction to make your opinion known - best hurry as time is fast running out.
