Chiltern Volleyball Club was formed in 1984 by a group of friends who had been introduced to the sport as part of the Reading Top Teams Tournament. It is a testament to the lasting appeal of the sport, as well as the continuing friendliness of our club, that many of the founders are still active members.

The club's name was derived from our first training venue, Chiltern Edge School, but our ever-expanding membership eventually outgrew the school facilities. In order to have a presence in our principal catchment area, Reading, we moved to the Rivermead Sports Centre in 1988, in 1996 to Loddon Valley Leisure Centre in Lower Earley, and in 2005 to Kendrick School Sports Hall in central Reading where we hold our Monday Club nights and National and Local League matches. Loddon Valley and Bradfield College are other local venues used for team training sessions and league matches.

It has taken just 20 years for the club to become the largest in Berkshire. We are the only club in the area to offer both National and Local League competition for both Men and Ladies, as well as opportunities for recreational and tournament volleyball. We also offer a range of membership types (including junior and concessionary memberships) and payment options to suit the requirements of the individual.
